Welcome to the Lisbon Centre for Research in Public Law of Lisbon’s Law School (CIDP). The CIDP stimulates and promotes new research orientations and themes within the area of Public Law. The lecturers and researcher’s extensive research experience in the areas of Political Science, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and European and International Law are the basis for this scientific activity. Integrated in one of the oldest and most prestigious Law Faculties of the country and the in most important Portuguese University, the CIDP is the most productive and innovative research centre in the area of Public national Law. The centre concentrates the human and academic conditions to achieve the professional and scientific expectancies aimed by its members and support their internationalization of their individual and collective path.

During its first three years of activity (2012-2014), the CIDP developed research projects in cutting edge areas of Public national Law, international and European Law, with the goal of promoting scientific studies that address original and current legal themes and topics. Simultaneously, the centre motivated the development of projects with and interdisciplinary nature. The most significant changes in the activity of the CIDP in relation to scientific achievements occurred in 2014 and 2015, in addition to the consolidation as a scientific hub of innovative research. The Centre obtain, ex aequo with another institution, the highest classification within the Portuguese research centres for Legal Sciences in the international evaluation procedure organized by the FCT – the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology. Also during this period, were organized several research meetings with national and international impact, as an output of the CIDP’s research projects. In addition, the Centre established important partnerships with the EU Commission, the Centre Jacques Delors, the Istituto delle Ricerche sulla Pubblica Amministrazione and the Law Faculty of the University of S. Paulo.

Apart from these initiatives, the affirmation of the CIDP as a centre competent within the area of Public Law and its internationalisation can be seen in the launch of the journal e-Pública, part of important publication indexes such as the SciELO – Web of Science and Latindex.

In a time of change, the CIDP continues to manage its new projects based on criteria like innovation, quality, scientific precision and international impact. 2016-2017 will be a period filled by the organization of events and conferences, by the launch of the Public Administration Permanent Observatory and, in particular by the continuity of the precise research work that distinguishes the CIDP. The CIDP’s website, in constant update, contains all the contacts and relevant information about the life of the Centre and its internal structure, it also publicizes the new initiations and allows and easy an interactive access to the scientific production. To those that are now starting their activity at the Centre and to those that will join us in the future, I wish you all the best and success for your academic goals.
